Mozilla publishes name and shame list of slow Firefox add-ons, cracks down on tardy devs

Posted by admin on May 21, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments
Mozilla, continuing its year-long crusade to speed up Firefox startup and shutdown times, has published a name and shame list of the Firefox’s slowest add-ons. The list is just one part of Mozilla’s new efforts to highlight slow add-ons, and to help developers make their add-ons more efficient. Over the next two weeks, ‘slow performance warnings’ will be introduced in the add-on gallery so that users can see, before installation, which add-ons will slow down their browser. If that isn’t enough to spur developers into cleaning up their add-ons, Mozilla has...

Burrito Bison is a simple game for gummy bear lovers

Posted by admin on May 21, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments
Burrito Bison is a pretty simple game, but if you’re into gummy bears you might find it addictive. As you may have guessed from the name, you’re a bison (not a burrito, though). In the course of your day-to-day grocery shopping, you’re abducted into a bag of gummy bears, and must now fend for yourself. At the beginning of each round you launch yourself onto the marching gummy (gummi?) bears, while you’re being watched by a huge crowd of even more gummy bears. Your goal is to keep bouncing on the bears and earn more and more money while you do it. Every time you...

AVG launches LiveKive cloud sync and backup tool

Posted by admin on May 21, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments
A while back, we told you about AVG’s new LiveKive service, a new cloud synchronization and backup tool which appears to have been named after a vat in which mash is made during the brewing process. But enough about AVG’s odd choice of monikers — LiveKive has launched and is now ready to accept your files into the AVG cloud. LiveKive takes aim at services like Dropbox and SugarSync, though at the moment it’s lagging behind in terms of features. As it stands, LiveKive is only compatible with Windows and OS X. There are no mobile clients yet, though with AVG’s...

TweetDeck to launch as HTML5 Web app, now accepting beta testers

Posted by admin on May 21, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments
When TweetDeck landed in the Chrome Web Store, it seemed like an indication that it might eventually evolve into a pure HTML5 Web app. Now it looks as though that’s exactly what’s going to happen, with TweetDeck announcing that a new, not-just-for-Chrome Web client is ready for beta testing. It’s a natural progression for TweetDeck, especially since its originally Adobe Air app is practically all Web code. TweetDeck Web will sport a feature set which is nearly identical to the Chrome app, with the notable exception of Twitter streaming. Initially, TweetDeck is...

Nokia uses Lumia 900 as a hammer in a torture test, makes us wince (video)

Posted by admin on May 21, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments
As much as we’re familiar with mobile device torture tests, they’re normally inflicted by us or otherwise not-so-voluntary. Nokia, however, has stepped up to the plate and doled out the abuse to the Lumia 900 itself with a hammer and nail, all based on a wager that the Windows Phone’s use of Gorilla Glass would hold up to Sonim-level punishment. The company’s Chris Ruble and Mike Meyers (not that Mike Myers) used a Lumia 710 as a dry run before an on-camera demo that not only saw the 900 assaulted with the hammer, but used as a blunt instrument itself — all...

A Historically Awesome Gaming Setup with Every Console in Existence [Video]

Posted by admin on May 21, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments
This might not be the best gaming setup ever but it’s easily the most historically awesome. Like a Hall of Fame for video games, Pete’s (or 16bitghost’s) gaming setup is a video game shrine. It has nearly every console you could ever think of in its TV stand. Posted by admin on May 21, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments
Motorola device owners have been pretty vocal about their want for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on their devices. Motorola in response to that, has kept an ICS rollout schedule updated and recently they made some changes to it that will either excite you or upset you, depending on which device you own. Droid RAZR, Droid RAZR MAXX and XOOM 3G/4G owners have the most to be excited about as ICS updates for those devices should be rolling out at just about any moment right now.
